My name is Mrs. Vang.
I'm so excited to have you join me so that we can become, let's say it together, amazing readers and writers, awesome.
I know you guys are happy becoming amazing readers and writers.
Remember all week, I was sharing my favorite books with you guys.
And today this is my all time favorite books, so it became one of my all time favorite books.
And this is the book called Fuddles and it's written and illustrated by Frans Vischer.
And guess what?
Mr. Vischer came and visited the school that I taught at and he signed this book to me.
And since then it's become one of my favorite book.
Do you guys have authors come and visit your school?
Oh, I love that the best.
We have lots of authors visiting our schools and I loved it because if he didn't come I would have never been introduced to this book called Fuddles about this cat named Fuddle.
You're right.
So I love this book, boys and girls 'cause this cat reminds me so much of my cat because this cat is super, super spoiled and he always just stays in until one day he decides to go out and that's right.
He is met with his own adventure.
So if you wanna read about fuddles adventure, make sure that you are checking the Sora app to see if this book is on it or are you a County Library?

You have to do your part and you have to check those books out on Sora and read.
Okay, boys and girls.
Now all week I've been sharing my favorite books, I will love it if you will write to me and share some of your favorite books, that's right.
You can write to me, use the address that you see below and tell me all about your favorite books or you can I can use the email address.
I mean, you guys are really good at emailing.
Email me a letter that tells of your favorite books.
I would love to know what your favorite books are.
And I wonder if I've read some of them 'cause you know, I have lots of favorite books and when I get your letter or your email I'll send you one of these fun activity books.
So that means you need to give me your home address so I can send these to you.

Okay boys and girls, all week we have been working hard, so let's continue working hard and then we can rest on the weekend.

Let's start with yeah, that's right.
Training our ears, so turn that year is up, that's right nice and loud.
We're gonna play a game called phony reversal.
Remember this is when I'm gonna say some sounds, we're gonna blend it and then we're gonna say the same sound but we can go backwards, we're gonna reverse the sound to come up, but the new word.
Are you ready?
Okay, I know some of you guys love this weekend.
Have you guys had fun last time?
Okay, are you ready?
Okay, listen for the sound, ready?
S, ign what is it?
Sign, good job, and I go backwards.
N, ice what is it?
Nice, good job.
Okay, next set of sounds, ready?
T, each, teach, ready?
Remember the sounds.
Ch, eat, what is it?
Cheat, good, teach, cheat.
Can you do that really fast?
Good job.
Okay, last set of sounds, ready?
T, ime, what is it?
time.
Okay go backwards now or reverse it.
Mite, what is it?
mite, good.
So we can say time, might, good job reversing those sounds boys and girls.
Okay, now let's go into our focus sound of the week and this week we are focused on what sounds?
Say it nice and loud so I can hear you?
Good that ou sound.
And remember it makes the same sound just like if you get hurt and you say, ou, same sound.
Ou and we know that that ou sound has two different ways that we can spell it.
And this is where it gets tricky because when you hear it and when you're writing, you have to decide is it the ou or the ow 'cause those are those other two ways that we can spell it.
So let's say that again, ready?
Ou says ou, like in the word house.
Ow says ou like in the word cow.
That's why I have my cow card here with me to help us remember the ow and ou both say ou.
Okay, let's practice, blending some letters together, ready?
Help me blend them.
Lets say s, ound what does it?
Sound, good job.
But what if I change the s to a r, what's my new word now?
Good job.
I hear you round, good job.
What if I change it to m?
What's my sound now?
mound, good job.
What have if change it to a b what's my new word now?
Bound, good job, I like how fast you guys are doing that.
Okay, what if I change it to a beginning blend and put the g, r, this is gr what is it?
Ground.
Good reading.
Remember a lot of the times when you can spell one word or read one where you can read many other words.
Okay, now let's practice with this set of sounds, ready?

You guys are getting so good at practice reading words with that ou sound.
Now, today's Friday.
So I have a fun story to read with you guys.
So I remember before we read let's go for our fluency check list.
You remember, as you read, we're working on our accuracy making sure that we're spelling or not spelling reading every word correctly.
We're gonna focus on our rate, not going too fast, not going too slow.
Expression we're gonna read with feelings and paying attention to that punctuation, to that period, question mark and exclamation.
So today I have a fun story for you guys to read.
It's a real mystic fiction called "Out of String Beans".
And as you guys are reading, I want you guys to try to figure out what happened to the Beans, are you ready?
Let's read it together.
- [Voiceover] Out of String Beans.
Detective Brown strode up to Sue Sprout and stared.
She stated, "I hear that you have a big problem now".
"It's my string beans!"
howled Sue Sprout.
"I'm out of string beans.
They haven't been taken!
Should I blame myself for not watching them?"
Detective Brown scratched her head and frowned.
"Tell me about this problem so I can build a case.
"Do you know where the beans are?"
Sue Sprout said "I came out to water "my pretty beans just a few minutes.
"I saw that just one little green bean was here.
"How dare someone take my green beans.
It's just not fair!"
Detective Brown wrote notes on her pad.
"I don't know if your dad heard a loud sound," She said, then she looked through her special glass and said "Look, there are brown tracks "that lead to the stream.
"They look like little hands, so we know isn't a bear.
"Let's take a walk and see if the robber is there".
So that's what they did.
At the stream Sue Spout shouted, "Look out for the mud!"
but Detective Brown slipped, and her body hit the ground with a wet splash.
But neither her coat nor hair got wet.
Detective Brown yelled, "I should be wearing my glasses, "but I don't see any beans here."
At home, young Steve Sprout pushed his way outside.
Dad came out of the house with a big, hot pot.
Steve said, "dad asked Detective Brown to stay right here for some string bean soup.
Detective Brown said, "Well "that is the answer we've been hoping to find.
Now we know where the string beans went, case closed!"
(gentle music) - So what happened to Sue Sprout's beans?
You're right, Dad took them and he made string bean soup.
So was the case solved?
It was solved.
Now, did you read any words with that ou sound?
Lots of words, right?
These are all the words I found, help me read them again, ready?
Sound, shouted, outside, out, loud, house, ground, about, now, howled, how, frowned and brown and boys and girls look at all the high frequency words that I found in our story.
Let's read them, ready?
Head, minutes, pretty, pushed, myself, heard, build, body, been and answer.
Was that all of our words this week?
Yes, you're right.
Look how many were showed up in our one book, so that's why high frequency words are so important.
So let's go and practice our last two high-frequency word for this week.
And we have already read them in our story, so let's read it together and spell it.
Ready.
My first word is the word pushed, helped me read it, pushed, help me spell it P-U-S-H-E-D, pushed and remember the ed at the end means it's an affectionate ending.
It already happened.
Good job.
Build, helped me read it again build, help me spell it B-U-I-L-D build, good job.
Now let's read my sentences again, ready?
Let's see if these word will match or go into my sentence if it'll make sense.
Ready?
Al-_-_-_ his sister on the swing.
Okay, are you thinking of the word?
Good.
The town will -_-_-_-_ a new school next year.
Let's see if the town they're gonna do what with the new school?
You build the new school.
Good job.
The town will build a new school next year.
And Al pushed his sister on the swing.
Does that make sense?
Yes, it did.
So now, let's practice reading all the words that we learned this week.
I mean our high-frequency words, ready?
Pushed, build, heard, myself, then, head, pretty, body, answer and minutes.
Good job, boys and girls.
Okay, now we're gonna finish up quickly with our structural analysis.
Remember all week we have been learning with irregular plural nouns.
We know plural nouns just means more than one.
Irregular just means it doesn't follow the rules.
We can't just add an s or an es to make it mean more than one.
These rules are it changes completely or your right, stays the same.
So here's my sentence.
That -_-_-_ likes cheese.
And the -_-_-_ eat seeds.
Look at my choices, meece, mouse, mice, mouses and here's the clue, that -_-_-_-_ likes you see my verb, there's an s so that means that singular needs to be?
Good, mouse, that mouse likes cheese.
And the -_-_-_ eat the seeds and eat no s so it's a mice.
How did you do awesome job, boys and girls.
Okay, so as you read and write and make sure that you guys are writing them correctly and when you read make sure that you know that they are plural nouns.
You guys are doing an awesome job, boys and girls don't forget to come back next week so that we can continue learning.
