The John Machado WWII Story

Season 2014 Episode 350

John Machado grew up in Manteca. He served on the U.S.S. Mississippi and in 1944 at the age of 22 died after being injured in battle. Machado’s brother-in-law, Morris Garcia of Clovis, wanted to learn more about the sailor's death. Garcia tracked down WWII veterans that served with Machado and uses those conversations to tell the story of the brave American who did not return home 70 years ago.
